PHOENIX - It was the most tense of softball playoff games, one with three runs and only one hit.
Phoenix Xavier Prep made the most of the lone hit May 12, junior Sariah McNabb’s sixth-inning triple to the gap in left center. Junior Joie Ramos flied out to left, McNabb tagged up and knocked the ball out of the catcher’s glove to score the tying run against O’Connor.
In the bottom of the seventh, the Gators scored without making contact or giving up an out. The winning run in the 2-1 elimination game victory came from an illegal pitch on a 3-2 count, a hit batter and two walks.
