Phoenix works to expand access to overdose-reversal drug naloxone

The city of Phoenix is working toward expanding access to the drug naloxone, which can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose.

The city plans to train more public-facing staff to administer naloxone, often referred to by the brand name Narcan, in life-saving situations or to supply them with naloxone packs to leave behind with residents.

Staff will also put out an educational campaign about the drug’s usefulness and offer training for the public to learn how to administer naloxone as well.
