A suspect died after he was shot while attempting to rob a woman in Phoenix, according to police.
The incident happened Tuesday, Nov. 21 at about 11:15 p.m. in the 19400 block of North 7th Street, near the Loop 101.
According to witnesses, a 34-year-old male grabbed a 29-year-old woman as she entered her residence. Police said the woman tried to close the door but the suspect forced his way in.
The woman then retrieved a handgun from within her home and shot at the man.
Police said the suspect fled from the home and was later located at a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police said the early indication is that the incident was an attempted armed robbery.
