The Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department is having a session on Saturday when the community can help develop a site along the Rio Salado to test design and landscaping proposals.
The meeting will take place from 9 a.m. until noon Dec. 2 at the Rio Salado Audubon Center, 3131 S. Central Ave.
The Transformation Site, located along the south bank of the Rio Salado at Central Avenue, has been identified as a pilot site “for the testing and integration of proposals for shade, seating, tree planting and greening with plants and shrubbery,” according to a release.
“We wouldn’t be the city we are today without the legacy of the Rio Salado,” Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego said.
“I am excited to bring our residents closer to the river and ultimately reinvigorate this region to make it a more active live, work and play area for Phoenix families."
