Phoenix to spend $9M on mental health services, targeted at helping homeless

Federal COVID-19 relief funding used for program

Phoenix City Council last week allocated $9 million of federal coronavirus relief funding to address mental health and substance abuse services, particularly for the homeless.

The city is contracting with Mercy Care for the program, which will provide outreach, behavioral and physical health screenings, evaluations, counseling, therapy, medication, case management, and transportation to services for residents throughout the city.

Phoenix residents who are underinsured or uninsured will be eligible for the program, which includes those without documentation of citizenship.
