The city of Phoenix plans to move some staff into the newly purchased Wells Fargo tower downtown in as little as a year and wants to complete the transition within two years.
The city purchased the building for $46.5 million last year after the bank vacated it. It intends to use the space mainly for a new headquarters for the Phoenix Police Department though other city departments will relocate offices in the 27-story tower adjacent to City Hall as well.
Phoenix Special Projects Manager Jeremy Legg told the city’s Civic Improvement Corporation Board Tuesday that by the end of April staff should have general plans for which departments will go where within the 525,000-square-foot office tower.
