The city of Phoenix is honoring Martin "Marty" Shultz with a ceremonial street sign in downtown Phoenix.
Shultz had a hand in many different parts of public service. He worked for 32 years for Pinnacle West Capital Corp., the parent company of Arizona Public Service, including as the vice president of government affairs.
In the 1970s, Shultz served as chief of staff to three consecutive Phoenix mayors: John Driggs, Tim Barrow and Margaret T. Hance. Shultz was a founding member of Phoenix Community Alliance, a nonprofit promoting downtown Phoenix, and served as chair of its board in 2008. In 2009, Shultz was named Man of the Year by the nonprofit Valley Leadership.
