The city of Phoenix plans to expand its programs to help former prisoners get jobs.
Staff recommended to a city subcommittee last Tuesday, June 21 to hire a workforce development specialist focused on starting a workforce training program for formerly incarcerated people ages 24 and younger and to start a transitional jobs people for people exiting prisons and jails with a focus on paid internships.
The program proposals are through Phoenix’s Arizona@Work office, which has a network of offices across the state of public-private partnerships on workforce development programs.
