The city of Phoenix on Wednesday took a step toward adding 20 interactive touchscreen digital kiosks to downtown.
The city’s Transportation, Infrastructure and Planning Subcommittee approved the addition of the kiosks on downtown sidewalks. The installation will be of no cost to the city. City council is scheduled to vote to give final approval on Wednesday, May 11. The unanimous subcommittee vote Wednesday accounts for three of five votes needed for council approval.
The city’s stated goal has been to get the informational kiosks operational by the 2023 Super Bowl, which will be held in Glendale but many connected events will be in downtown Phoenix.
