Phoenix, SRP partner on new EV charging

Joint effort could accelerate industry

The Phoenix City Council on Wednesday approved funding for 11 new dual-port electric vehicle charging stations to be placed around the city at public libraries and parks.

The city has entered into an incentive program with Salt River Project to help pay for the new charging stations and provide more access to the city’s 8,500 registered electric vehicle owners; The move represents growing recognition of EVs making their presence felt on Valley streets as there are now more than 40,900 registered electric vehicles statewide.

The Phoenix stations will be installed by Miami-based Blink Network LLC after Phoenix handles the necessary infrastructure improvements.
