Phoenix Sky Harbor plans new parking facility

City paid $12.7M for property and office building demolition

The city of Phoenix has purchased land near Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport to add more parking to the airport.

The 18.8-acre property next to the airport’s rental car center was purchased for $10 million, approved by city council in September. It held a JP Morgan Chase office building and a parking garage. The parking garage will be kept and the office building is in the process of being demolished to be turned into a surface parking lot, Sky Harbor’s Senior Business Manager William Robinson told a Phoenix Aviation subcommittee on Tuesday.
