Phoenix settles lawsuit for $100k over arrest of Wall Street Journal reporter

Phoenix City Council on Wednesday voted to pay $100,000 to settle a lawsuit from a Wall Street Journal reporter who said he was wrongfully arrested by a Phoenix Police officer in 2022.

In November 2022, Wall Street Journal reporter Dion Rabouin, who is Black, was handcuffed and arrested outside a Chase Bank at 12038 N. 32nd St., Phoenix, according to past Independent Newsmedia reporting.

Rabouin, who was in Phoenix visiting family for Thanksgiving, was seeking comments from bank customers for a story he was covering while dressed in casual attire as to not draw attention.
