Phoenix plans to add safety improvements along Dunlap Avenue in west Phoenix if approved for a $25 million federal transportation grant.
Interim Street Transportation Director Brandy Kelso told the Phoenix Vision Zero Advisory Committee during its June 25 meeting that staff submitted the application earlier that day. She does not expect to hear the results until toward the end of 2025.
Last year, the city’s funding request was approved for safety improvements along Indian School Road from 39th to 91st avenues. Staff has recently started design work for those improvements, Kelso said, with council approving Aztec Engineering Group for the project.
