Phoenix scraps hydrogen bus plans after Trump admin pulls funding

The city of Phoenix is scrapping its plans for hydrogen-powered buses after the Trump administration withdrew funds for clean energy projects.

The city has one hydrogen bus used in a pilot program with the hope of adding more to the city’s fleet.

“There was, several years ago, huge momentum for hydrogen fuel in Arizona, incredible economic development announcements in the hundreds of millions of dollars,” Mayor Kate Gallego said during a March 4 council meeting.
