Phoenix record label celebrates music with movie, TV song placements

Ever wonder who comes up with those songs you hear in pivotal scenes of movies or on TV shows? These two dudes in Phoenix do, and it’s as fun as it sounds while also supporting Arizona musicians.

A few seconds of a few bars of music in a film or TV scene is all it takes. An audience could be moved as a storyline unfolds – and careers can find new life for a band all at the same time.

Take the 1997 Oscar-winning romantic comedy “As Good As It Gets,” starring Jack Nicholson and Helen Hunt.

There’s a scene when actress Shirley Knight, who plays Hunt’s mom in the movie where the two share space in a cramped apartment, wants to give Hunt’s character some privacy. Hunt’s character is in another room with a date, and Knight cleans the apartment behind a curtain while she blares music in her portable headphones to mask any sounds from the other room.
