A Phoenix gas station sold a Fantasy 5 ticket that was worth $146,000 Tuesday night, Arizona Lottery officials said.

The ticket for the July 18 drawing was sold at QuikTrip, 5960 W. Buckeye Road, Phoenix.

Meantime, Wednesday night’s Powerball jackpot is at $1 billion with a cash value approaching $517 million, officials said.

It is the third-largest Powerball jackpot in history and seventh-largest lottery prize ever.

Lottery officials said Powerball sales tend to double or nearly double as the jackpot approaches and surpasses the $1 billion mark. Ticket purchases are more than 10 times those at beginning jackpot levels, they said.

The Mega Millions jackpot also is growing after Tuesday’s drawing failed to produce a big winner. It is estimated to reach $720 million by Friday’s drawing.

Locally, there was one Mega Millions winner July 18. The $10,000 ticket was sold at the Circle K, 2011 S. Ellsworth Road in Mesa.
