The city of Phoenix is preparing to lease six unused city properties.
Phoenix Community and Economic Development Director Christine Mackay told a city subcommittee last week the city gets “the best of both worlds” leasing the properties because the taxpayers assume any improvements tenants make to the property while also maintaining ownership.
City staff is involved in community outreach about what the public would like to see on each of the six sites and will return to the Economic Development and Equity Subcommittee for direction of what type of request for proposal the city should issue for each property.
