Phoenix Police suspend use of bean bag shots for crowd control

Phoenix police officers have stopped the use of bean bag rounds “out of an abundance of caution” and inconsistencies with the deployment of some of the rounds, according to Donna Rossi, a Phoenix police spokeswoman.

Phoenix police will use alternative non-lethal options such as tasers and pepper balls in instances where they are confronted with issues with large crowds, Rossi said.

Phoenix police stopped using the rounds sometime last week, she said.
