A man wielding a samurai sword is dead following a shooting that involved Phoenix police officers Saturday near 39th Avenue and Cactus Road, authorities said.
The shooting occurred Saturday afternoon, Sept. 10, after the man had used the sword to hit a gate at the Phoenix Police Department precinct in the area, police said.
He was told to stop by police and ran toward officers who fired shots at him, police said.

A man wielding a samurai sword is dead following a shooting that involved Phoenix police officers Saturday near 39th Avenue and Cactus Road, authorities said.
The shooting occurred Saturday afternoon, Sept. 10, after the man had used the sword to hit a gate at the Phoenix Police Department precinct in the area, police said.
He was told to stop by police and ran toward officers who fired shots at him, police said.
The man has been identified as 40-year-old Aaron Baughman. He was taken to a hospital where he died from his injuries.
