Phoenix police release video, details of fatal police shooting of armed man

Phoenix police body camera video shows an unidentified suspect shouting at police as they point lethal and less-lethal weapons at him, ordering him to get on the ground around 8:15 p.m. on Monday, July 17, near 18th and Harrison streets. The man was the suspect in a nearby DUI crash. Moments later he lifted what appeared to be a handgun and was shot by police, dying from his injuries on scene. Phoenix police released details of an incident two weeks ago when an officer fatally shot an armed man.

On Monday, July 17, the man later shot by police had reportedly just crashed a vehicle into a pole and witnesses described him as drunk. Witnesses also reported hearing gunshots in the area.

When police found him, by the train tracks near 18th and Harrison streets, he was yelling aggressively at them and walking toward them at times, disobeying orders to get on the ground.
