Phoenix Police detectives are investigating a stabbing that left one man dead in a front yard.

 On Oct. 4, at around 3:18 a.m., officers responded to the area of 46th Street and Devonshire  Avenue regarding a domestic violence, accoring to the release. Once officers arrived on the scene, they located one adult male, identified as 50-year-old Erick Michael Chapman, suffering from a stab wound in the front yard.

The Phoenix Fire Department arrived on the scene and pronounced the man deceased. An adult male was detained on the scene, the release said, who allegedly admitted to being involved in the stabbing. He was also transported to a nearby hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. 

Homicide and Night detectives responded to assume the investigation and begin processing the scene. Once the man was released from the hospital, he was transported to Phoenix Police Headquarters to be interviewed by detectives, according to the release.

After being interviewed, the man was released pending the outcome of the investigation. Additional details remain a part of the ongoing investigation.
