The nonprofit Phoenix Police Foundation will be the host of the fifth annual Women in Blue Celebration and Luncheon on Wednesday, Sept. 21, at the Sheraton Phoenix Downtown Hotel.

The event honors women law enforcement leaders — in sworn and non-sworn roles — for their service.

Each year, the Phoenix Police Foundation presents three awards to members of the Phoenix Police Department who best exemplify courage, bravery, fortitude and a slate of other characteristics and accomplishments.

Honorees will be announced during the awards ceremony.

For 2022, the award categories are:

• Act of Valor — honoring a PPD employee who has exhibited exceptional courage, regardless of personal safety, in the attempt to save or protect others from harm.

• Up & Comer — to recognize a PPD employee who has demonstrated exceptional job performance and leadership skills early in her career.

• Elevating Women in Law Enforcement — to celebrate a PPD employee who has promoted women in law enforcement through job performance or community involvement.

“The annual Women in Blue Celebration and Luncheon has become one of our signature events over the years, and we are excited to be back for a fifth edition honoring three extraordinary women,” Timothy Thomas, president and CEO of Phoenix Police Foundation, said.

“Women in sworn and non-sworn roles are pivotal to law enforcement and our communities, and this is our chance to recognize their accomplishments and service.”

Check-in for Women in Blue will begin at 11 a.m. on the day of the event.

Guests can participate in a silent auction prior to the luncheon and ceremony, which starts at 11:30 a.m. with the posting of the colors with an all-women Phoenix Police Honor Guard.

Following the awards presentation will be a live auction. All proceeds go to the Phoenix Police Foundation, which helps fund life-saving equipment, K-9 officers, youth programs and more as well as provides financial assistance for the families of fallen officers.

To attend the event, the Phoenix Police Foundation is accepting sponsorship at a variety of levels through Friday, Sept. 2.

Individual tickets are available to purchase for $150 through Friday, Sept. 16.
