A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a fatal 2023 stabbing in north Phoenix, police said Wednesday.

Daymon French has been booked into jail after being charged with second-degree murder as the suspect in the death of 43-year-old Johnny Vaughn.

At about 6:30 a.m. on Oct. 16, 2023, officers responded to a hospital near 39th Street and Bell Road for a victim who was dropped off and suffering from critical injuries.

Police learned a car pulled into the hospital parking lot and dropped the victim off then left the area. Vaughn died at the hospital, according to a Phoenix Police Department release.

Vaughn was arrested about 11:30 p.m. May 12 after he was identified by officers during a traffic stop.
