Mexican law enforcement authories took Michael Anthony Arredondo into custody after an extensive coordination between international and federal partners, according to a release Friday from the Phoenix Police Department.
Accoring to the release, passers by noticed an unresponsive victim about 9:45 a.m. on June 3, 2017, later identified as 25-year-old Evin Paulos, unresponsive in a lot south of Pinnacle Peak Road and east of Cave Creek road, with serious signs of trauma. Paulos later died.
After Arrendondo was arrested, Phoenix Police detectives traveled to the San Diego County Sheriff's office on Sept. 26 to interview him, the release stated.
During the interview, Arredondo confessed to stabbing Paulos, and fled the country shortly after the incident to evade arrest.
Arredondo was extradited to Phoenix on Oct. 15 to face charges.
