Phoenix police: 15-year-old girl killed by stray bullet through bedroom window

Suspect arrested, charged with manslaughter

A 15-year-old girl was shot and killed when a stray bullet was fired through a second-floor bedroom window from outside her family’s condominium last week in southeast Phoenix.

The victim, Graciela Andrea Molina, was shot in the right side of the neck about 8:15 p.m. Friday as she sat in a bedroom with her father and 11-year-old sister. She was transported to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead. Molina went by Andrea, according to the family’s GoFundMe page for her funeral.

Phoenix police arrested the suspect, 35-year-old Fernando Pina, Sunday afternoon after a witness came forward to say they saw Pina firing a gun in a vacant lot near the Molina home, just south of Interstate 10, west of 48th Street. Pina has been charged with one count of manslaughter, two counts of illegally shooting a gun inside the city and two counts of endangerment for also endangering the victim’s father and sister.
