Phoenix plans regulations for large water users

Would impact those that use 250k gallons or more per day

New large water users in Phoenix would face additional regulations and reductions under a proposed ordinance change heading to city council.

Users have to use a lot of water for the changes to apply — at least 250,000 gallons per day. Phoenix Water Services Director Troy Hayes said it would mostly apply to manufacturing and cooling companies.

The ordinance, approved unanimously by the Phoenix Transportation, Infrastructure and Planning Subcommittee last week, would require users above 250,000 gallons per day to submit a water conservation plan for approval by the Water Services Department.
