Phoenix plans improvements on two-mile stretch of Van Buren Street

Phoenix City Council on Wednesday approved funding for a two-mile stretch of Van Buren Street in downtown Phoenix.

The stretch from Seventh Street to 24th Street will include improvements to five traffic signals and three HAWK (High Intensity Activated Crosswalks) signals. Improvements will also include reconstructing existing sidewalks, driveways and curb ramps, installing new landscaping and irrigation and adding and upgrading new streetlights.

This map shows the two-mile stretch of Van Buren Street, between Seventh and 24th streets, that will receive improvements.
