Phoenix is planning 35th Avenue to be the first of several Bus Rapid Transit routes to be built throughout the city during the next two decades.
City staff wants the 35th Avenue line to be a “showcase” route for future planned routes in the city, said Phoenix Bus Rapid Transit Administrator Sara Kotecki said during a public meeting earlier this month.
Bus rapid transit routes will have lanes dedicated for BRT buses in each direction as well as other improvements to speed up or otherwise improve the transit experience.
