Phoenix Planning Commission approves Laveen housing development at full density

The Phoenix Planning Commission approved a rezone last week to allow a housing development to be built in Laveen.

With the vote, the commission rejected the Laveen Village Planning Committee’s recommendation that the city slightly limit the development’s density.

The rezone to allow for multifamily use addressed only a 5.3-acre property northeast of 59th Avenue and Elliot Road, but that parcel is being added to an already rezoned 22.8-acre site to make a cohesive 28.1-acre, 299-unit rental housing development with both duplexes and detached single-family homes.
