Phoenix parks department starts play-at-home program

With the warmest days of the year upon the Valley, indoor activities are a must.

Starting Wednesday, July 8, the Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department is launching PHXPlays at Home, a free virtual recreation program.

Each Wednesday from July 8 through Aug. 12, members of the department's Recreation staff will lead a 60-minute, live-streamed activity based on different themes. The activities are designed for youth and families to enjoy together. While the program is free, registration is required for each of the six sessions, according to a release.

Registered participants will receive a unique code to virtually join the live stream via Cisco Webex. Participants will also need to download the free Webex app through the iTunes or Android store, or search for and download it through their internet service provider.

PHXPlays at Home Virtual Recreation Program schedule and themes:
Wednesday, July 8 – 6-7 p.m. (Youth Sports theme)

Wednesday, July 15 – 1-2 p.m. (Superhero theme)
Wednesday, July 22 – 2-3 p.m. (Disney theme)
Wednesday, July 29 – 6-7 p.m. (Video Games theme)
Wednesday, Aug. 5 – 6-7 p.m. (Circus theme)
Wednesday, Aug. 12 – 1-2 p.m. (Space theme)
