Phoenix officer injured in Tuesday morning shootout

A shootout Tuesday morning left a suspect dead and a Phoenix police officer injured, authorities said.

The shooting occurred about 3 a.m. May 28 near 10th Street and Southern Avenue, police said.

Southern Avenue is closed down between 13th Street and 7th Street while officers continue to investigate. Closures are expected throughout the morning, police said.
