Phoenix has shifted sites for its planned child care facility at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and now plans to put it at the 44th Street Sky Train Station.
Airport employees would drop off their children at the station and then ride the train into one of the airport’s two main terminals for work.
Original plans were to put the child care facility in the old Aviation Annex building just outside of Terminal 3, “but it posed challenges in terms of traffic access and the building being very old, required extensive rehabilitation,” Matthew Heil, special projects administrator for the Aviation Department, told the Aviation Advisory Board last week.
