Xico, a Phoenix nonprofit multidisciplinary arts organization dedicated to celebrating Latino and Indigenous artists, has a new executive director.
The organization, founded in 1975, after an extensive search and with a unanimous vote of the board of directors, appointed Angelina Bravo to its leadership team.
She officially assumes her role in January and will take on full operational leadership of the organization.
“I am honored to have been selected to lead Xico, one of the most influential Latino- and Indigenous-focused organizations in Arizona,” Bravo shared in a press release. “It is a privilege to step into this role with a commitment to tending to the roots of Xico, while expanding our reach to new communities across our state and region.”
Nadia Rivera will continue to serve as interim executive director until January.
A fourth-generation Arizonan, Bravo brings deep roots and a lifelong commitment to the state’s diverse communities. She currently serves as chief advocacy officer at Valle del Sol, a nonprofit serving Arizona’s underserved communities for more than 50 years. In this role, she has overseen the annual Profiles of Success celebration of Latino leadership, as well as one of the nation’s most recognized Latino professional development programs, the Hispanic Leadership Institute.
Bravo was honored in 2024 as Executive of the Year by the Association of Latino Professionals for America. She also brings prior experience from Salt River Project, where she led Hispanic community partnerships. A graduate of the Hispanic Leadership Institute, Bravo earned her degree in broadcast journalism and marketing from the University of Arizona.
She lives in Central Phoenix with her husband and two daughters, with a third child on the way.
“Angelina is a proven leader with both the vision and the heart to guide Xico into its next chapter,” Ricardo Lopez Valencia, Xico Board of Directors president, stated. “Her experience, dedication, and passion for art, culture and community advocacy will strengthen our mission and inspire the next generation.”
