Phoenix nonprofit uses donation for victim center renovation
The Phoenix Police Foundation has received a $10,000 donation from Verizon Frontline Network to help fund the renovation of the Central Phoenix Victim’s Center.
Verizon Frontline Network was a part of the Super Bowl security effort, helping lines of communication between agencies stay open during the game, according to a release. Local officials were given a tour recently of how the company prepared for the event.
"For 30 years, Verizon Frontline has worked side-by-side with first responders on the front lines to ensure we are providing them with the mission-critical communications capabilities they need,” Maggie Hallbach, a Verizon senior vice president, said.

During the tour, Verizon presented the nonprofit foundation with the $10,000 donation for the victim’s center project.
The renovation will remodel and upgrade the victim’s center at the Phoenix Police Department’s Family Investigations Bureau on North Central Avenue in downtown.
A new space also will be added “to transform the existing space into a place with more welcoming interview rooms and more privacy for the forensic nurse examination rooms,” the release stated.
The foundation has raised $357,797 of their $550,000 goal to complete the renovation, officials said.
