Phoenix MLK march, festival unites thousands

Thousands of people attended the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. march and festival in Phoenix to celebrate the federal holiday in honor of the Civil Rights icon.

Several Phoenix community leaders, local businesses, churches, and organizations were among those who paid homage on Jan. 20, starting with an MLK march at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, and ending at Margaret T. Hance Park for the annual festival.

Hosted by the Arizona Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Committee, the event attracted and united people of all ages, races, and backgrounds. Local talents were on full display as groups and individuals performed for a crowd. Lots of vendors with information on community resources were present.
