Phoenix meeting less than half of its goals on online dashboard

Dashboard gets international praise for transparency, accountability

The city of Phoenix has been recognized internationally for an online dashboard that shows 132 metrics in different city departments and how the city is performing toward its goals.

The dashboard lets staff and the public “assess the overall health of the city,” said Michael Hammett, Phoenix’s Chief Innovation Officer. However, the city is not as healthy as staff would like it to be. Not every metric listed on the dashboard has a goal set, but the city has met or exceeded its own goals on just under half, 39 out of 81, of metrics with a stated goals.

The dashboard can be viewed by visiting PhoenixOpenData.com and clicking “City Manager’s Performance Dashboard.” It first launched in June 2022.
