Phoenix man sentenced to prison for assaulting officers
Posted
A Phoenix man has pleaded guilty to two felonies and sentenced to seven years in prison in relation to an arrest in which he injured several police officers.
Elias Retes, 28, pleaded guilt to two counts of aggravated assault in the May 18 incident, according to the Maricop County Attorney's office. Retes also will receive three years of supervised probation.
The sentence stems from a May 18 incident when Phoenix Police responded to a report of a man setting objects on fire in the 500 block of West Lynwood Street. When officers tried to arrest Retes, the county attorney's office said he violently resisted and injured several officers.
