Phoenix man sentenced to 8 years for I-10 DUI crash that led to death

A judge recently sentenced a Phoenix man to eight years in the custody of the Arizona Department of Corrections for manslaughter stemming from a fatal 2024 collision on Interstate 10.

Ukel Mario Celbirio was sentenced on June 25 in connection with the April 14, 2024 crash near milepost 10 in Phoenix.

Arizona Department of Public Safety investigators determined Celbirio, who was 29 at the time, was driving a Nissan Versa west on I-10 when he swerved from the travel lanes onto the right shoulder, striking a parked Mercedes-Benz sedan, according to a DPS release.
