Phoenix looks to add new public health adviser role

Council will vote on April 20 to create position

Phoenix took a step toward adding a new public health adviser role to the city Wednesday.

The city council will vote to officially create the position on Wednesday, April 20. If approved, recruitment for the position would take place in May and June and staff aims for the new hire to start in summer or early fall.

Phoenix’s Community and Cultural Investment Subcommittee voted to approve the new position 3-0 Wednesday, accounting for three of nine votes the measure would need to pass the full council in two weeks.
