Phoenix has fifth-largest increase in vacation costs, analysis shows

A new report from a global travel group showed Phoenix had the fifth largest increase in vacation costs for a family of four, based on a four-night stay over a five-year period.

The study, done by online destination site Luxury Link, showed the cost of a vacation to Phoenix increased 23.8% comparing pre-pandemic 2019 prices with the most recent available in 2025, which looks at the costs of airfare, lodging, meals, and rental cars. The cost of a four-night trip for a family of four is estimated at $4,742. The highest four-night cost was New York City at $6,003, followed by Honolulu ($5,932) and San Francisco ($5,902)

“While Phoenix has seen a 23.8% increase in total vacation costs — fifth-largest increase in the analysis — it remains one of the more affordable major U.S. cities, with a total 4-night family vacation cost more than $1,000 cheaper than in New York City, Honolulu, San Francisco, and Boston,” said Diana Moreno, author of the Luxury Link survey. “Families may notice higher costs, but many still find Phoenix appealing for its attractions and overall value.”
