Just a few months after walking across the stage at Grand Canyon University, Lucas Jumalon found himself on an even bigger one.
The 22-year-old Spokane native, who graduated from GCU’s Phoenix campus in April with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a minor in business analytics, captured poker’s most coveted prize Wednesday night by winning the 2026 World Series of Poker Main Event in Las Vegas.
Jumalon outlasted a massive field of 9,208 entrants — the fourth-largest Main Event in tournament history — to earn the world championship bracelet and the tournament’s $10 million top prize. His victory also made him the second-youngest player ever to win the game’s most prestigious event.
