Phoenix Fire correcting marketing for lockbox program, adding Spanish materials

Phoenix Fire is committing to providing information in Spanish as well as English for a program that helps emergency services access residents’ homes after neglecting to provide Spanish materials for the first nine months the program has gone city-wide.

Under the Phoenix Fire Department’s free lockbox program, residents age 55 and older or who have mobility issues can provide a house key to be stored in a lockbox outside the residence with a code set by the fire department.

The lockbox’s location and code are then shared with dispatchers who provide the information to first responders if they are called to the residence to gain quick entry to the home without having to break a door or window.
