Phoenix Fire arson detective dog Sonny rides off into retirement

Sonny the arson dog has been the Phoenix Fire Department’s own Sherlock Bones for the last seven years, serving as detective in fire investigations.

City officials wished him farewell on Wednesday as Sonny heads off into retirement.

“He’s been an integral part of the Fire Investigations Task Force,” Sonny’s handler, Captain Robby Simpson told Phoenix City Council during Wednesday’s council meeting.
