Veronica Verdugo-Lomeli’s artwork displays the vitality of nature and the people who are molded by the fierce desert sun. The bold colors of her paintings reflect her Mexican-American heritage.

“Creating art is where I find myself most connected, free, and inspired,” the Tolleson-based fine artist and graphic designer based in Tolleson shared in a news release.

Marissa Vidrio’s printmaking delves into the captivating allure of the Sonoran Desert. She translates the landscapes into vivid textured artwork.

“My prints celebrate the interplay of light and shadow on desert surfaces and the intricate details of desert flora,” Marissa, an elementary art educator and member of the Five15 Arts Collective and the Arizona Print Group, stated in a news release.

The works of both will be on display in the upcoming “Vibrant Desert” exhibit in Phoenix.

Look for a First Friday reception, from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1, at Olney Gallery at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, 100 W. Roosevelt St.
