Phoenix D7 councilmember: Yes on Prop 409

Posted

I know from painful personal experience that adequate, accessible behavioral health care is a critical public need.

Valleywise has been serving people with psychiatric and behavioral needs for more than 50 years — it is Maricopa County’s top health care facility for people in crisis.

But demand is increasing, the facility is no longer sufficient for modern treatment, so I’m voting yes on Proposition 409. It’s an investment in our public health infrastructure that will keep up with the growth of Maricopa County and lay the groundwork for a strong public health system for the future.

Prop 409 will help Valleywise to build a new and updated behavioral health facility, double the number of patients it serves, expand emergency services and increase services for those in crisis.

It will also build new community health centers in underserved communities, making sure that primary, pediatric and urgent health care is accessible to everyone, including the most vulnerable among us.

Public health infrastructure is critical to safe and thriving communities, including here in Phoenix District 7. Join me in voting yes on Prop 409 to invest in our future.
