Phoenix continues to grow mental health emergency response program

Mental health specialists can respond solo or with police/fire

Behavioral health specialists are taking more calls than ever in the city of Phoenix, in lieu of police or fire, and the program continues to expand.

Phoenix’s Community Assistance Program is at 86% of its staffing goal. Its most recent batch of recruits began training in August and will be out in the field in November. The program will start another round of recruitment later this month. The program also uses peer support specialists through contracted organizations, which are also currently hiring more specialists for program with Phoenix.
