Phoenix considers requirement to keep workers on when contract changes hands

The city of Phoenix is considering a requirement to keep on workers when a city contract moves from one company to another.

“In some cases, workers who have been successfully performing their services can face uncertainty even when the work itself continues,” said Vice Mayor Kesha Hodge Washington during Wednesday’s city council meeting.

The council voted 9-0 for staff to research a possible worker retention policy to put into contracts and to analyze the economic impacts it would have.
