A city of Phoenix committee is recommending the city spend to expand a bike lane along Third Street through downtown.
The bike lane would connect Roosevelt Street to the north and to a planned pedestrian bridge over the Salt River to the south. The existing path along Salt River would also allow bike access to Tempe.
The committee did not mention a cost estimate for the project. A 2019 study published by the city said the estimate would be more than $1.5 million for just the portion between Lincoln Street and the pedestrian bridge over the Salt River.
