CityScape, Norterra developer to partner on new Goodyear entertainment district.

150-acre entertainment hub will be next to new city hall building

The developer of Phoenix CityScape and Norterra  is going to partner in creating a high-end Goodyear food and entertainment hub.

RED Development announced today it would partner with Scottsdale-based Globe Corp to design and build a sprawling 150-acre entertainment district east of Goodyear’s new city hall called GSQ.

The entertainment and cultural hub will feature high-end dining, retail, residential, hotel, and entertainment offerings. With more than a half million residents within a 10-mile radius of GSQ, the venture is expected to thrive and provide much-needed entertainment to the city that’s grown 45% in the last decade.

No financial terms or costs of the deal were released.

RED Development assisted in revitalizing downtown Phoenix with CityScape, a hub for high-end restaurants like Chico Malo and entertainment like Stand Up Live, where top-tier comedians perform. The hub also sports designer retail stylings like Urban Outfitters and boutique social gym Orange Theory Fitness.

“Collaborating with Globe Corp. to build on their impressive success with this project is something we couldn’t resist,” said Mike Ebert, managing partner at RED. “The City of Goodyear has also been an extraordinary partner and shares our vision in building a vibrant, upscale destination that will radically enhance how residents live, work and play in Goodyear.”

Construction on GSQ is slated to begin in 2024, with coordinating announcements expected to be made later this year.

“Entering this next phase of developing GSQ with RED is a great honor, we know their proven record of creating dynamic destinations combined with our family’s dedication to the community for the past 50 years will be instrumental in making it a Goodyear icon,” said George Getz, co-CEO at Globe Corp.

“Our dream of a downtown is one step closer to becoming reality now that RED Development has partnered with the Globe Corporation to develop the area around Goodyear’s City Hall,” said Goodyear Mayor Joe Pizzillo. “We have all the right partners working together to create a very special walkable district for our residents—and the greater Southwest Valley region—to enjoy as they bring quality shopping, dining, and entertainment to this area. This is a very exciting step in the development of GSQ.”
