Phoenix City Council on Tuesday directed staff to document how federal immigration agents may be breaking the law and violating residents’ civil rights in the city.
“Phoenix is a beautifully diverse city with a rich immigrant community, and right now, so many of our residents feel under attack by the federal government," Mayor Kate Gallego said during Tuesday's city council work study session.
Council also directed staff to document how federal immigration enforcement efforts may be impacting city services and to establish a protocol for city employees who encounter federal enforcement actions.
